Biography

Osei K was born in Georgetown Guyana December 25th 1988. Although he was born in Guyana he shares his fathers Jamaican heritage. After moving to the US from Jamaica, with his family in 1994, he settled in Washington DC where he began school and flourished as a student in the arts. By high school, Osei began to study the art of tattooing very intensely, researching through various methods, and seeking out mentors. Within just one year of graduating high school Osei began to make a name for himself as one of the areas best budding artists. After apprenticing at 3 different tattoo shops in the DC area, Osei developed his own unique style of tattooing, adopting the freehand method as his method of choice. Osei chose the freehand style because he has always been a staunch believer in custom drawing rather than tracing. Now currently finished with his formal fine arts training (BFA 2013) at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Osei K is part of a new generation of tattoo artists who have studied classical arts and apply its theories and training with the principles of tattoo art. Osei specializes in all styles but especially high contrast color on dark skin.
